Portraits from the Ledge


I began this project in 2024 following a visit to a skatepark in Trenton, New Jersey, one cold late November afternoon. People of all ages and backgrounds were zipping around, executing tricks I never dreamed of doing as a kid. It was a great re-introduction to the skating culture. Having grown up in the 1980s, skateboarding was a big part of my life for a time, but eventually I outgrew it. (I had a pink Executioner skateboard.) Since that November day, I've talked with a lot of skaters and found the community to be welcoming and inclusive. My goal for this project is to document the diverse skateboarding community in and around Trenton, primarily through portraits.
