portraits from the ledge

I began this project in 2024 after visiting a skate park in Trenton, New Jersey. I was surprised to see people of all ages and backgrounds spending their afternoon skateboarding and away from their video games and TVs. Having grown up in the 1980s, skateboarding was a big part of my life for a time, but eventually I outgrew it. (I had a pink Nash Executioner skateboard bearing images of a creature resembling a dragon on the top and underside but could never afford my holy grail, a Vision Gator.) I'm happy to report skateboarding is alive and well. My goal for this project is to document the diverse skateboarding community in and around Trenton, primarily through street portraits.
